If there's one thing that can be said about Filipinos, it is that our culture can be summed up in three words: happy-go-lucky, and perhaps this is one of the Philippine culture idiosyncrasies that might not sit well with other cultures. Although we worry about general things like money and stuff, for the most part it's not something that we take too seriously. (Although I should say that this may or may not be true of your Filipina wife.)
That said, it’s not unusual to find people who earn less than $200 dollars per month but are happier than most other people who earn so much more. Do I think we’re crazy for being that way?
I think it’s a good thing, and it keeps us off the list of countries with the highest suicide rates. What I really don’t like about our culture is the general work ethic. It’s not unusual to find Filipinos who leave things work undone for the day, or to not take our work seriously.
