Needless to say, if you're in the Philippines, you can't do what the French do when they're in Paris. Like most Asian cultures, Philippine culture is rather conservative when it comes to public displays of affection. Unless if you want someone to stared at and harangued by security guards, it's a no-no for anyone to kiss tongue-to-tongue in public.
If you think we’re prudish, let me just tell you that things have actually gotten better. Stories from older people tells us that Filipinas up until the turn of the 20th century were forced to marry the men who were seen HOLDING HANDS with them in public.
People at that time seemed to see the hand in a sexual light - holding hands meant you were already committing pre-marital sex, and this was a mortal sin in this very Catholic country.
These days, you don’t have to marry your Filipina girlfriend if you’ve already slept with her. But don’t ever go too cuddly with her when you’re in public. Holding hands and a quick smack on the lips is the closest that you can get, even when the woman you’re with is already your prized Filipina wife.
One tip though, if you really want to kiss her, kiss her in the movie theater. But don’t kiss her for the length of the entire movie. Theaters in big shopping malls in the Philippines have their guards rove the floor for scandalous behavior, and kissing is one of them.
